Military Business Network

The Military Business Network
The Military Business Network (MBN)—an initiative from the Hampton Roads Small Business Development Center (HRSBDC)—is designed to empower military veterans, active-duty service members, and their families in launching and growing successful businesses. By offering a veteran-focused community of peers, mentors, and advisors, the network addresses the unique needs and challenges that veterans face when transitioning to entrepreneurship. Whether you’re in the early planning stages or seeking to scale your enterprise, the Military Business Network offers structured peer support, specialized training, and tailored business guidance.
Participants in the network benefit from regular workshops and networking events that deliver key skills in areas such as government contracting, accessing veteran-specific financing, and leveraging veteran-certification programs. These sessions are led by seasoned business advisors—including fellow veterans—who understand military culture and the transferability of leadership, logistics, and mission-driven skills to the civilian business world. Events can also include panels featuring successful veteran entrepreneurs, offering real-world strategy and inspiration.
Being part of a veteran-specific peer group enhances accountability, builds camaraderie, and helps foster a community that understands not just the business challenges, but also the cultural and emotional aspects of entrepreneurship after service. By integrating professional business assistance with a supportive veteran community, the MBN is a powerful catalyst for veteran-operated ventures in Hampton Roads.
